God’s Care

God's care

The last few verses of Psalm 136 talk to us about God's care for us: Verse 23 He remembered us in our lowest state and freed us from our enemies. He gives food to every creature, give thanks to the God of Heaven.

“He remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever.
and freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever.
He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.”
(Psalm 136:23–26 NIV11)

God Remembers You

Do you need to hear those words of verse 23 and let them sit in your heart and bring you joy? It said he remembered us in our low estate. This is so true: God remembers us even if we are lowly and unnoticed by anybody else. God is the one who remembers us and still offers us salvation and freedom.

He cares for us. He cares for you. He remembers you no matter who you are and knows you by name. He loves you. Whether you're one of the high ups we spoke of yesterday or whether you're one of the low downs, God doesn't differentiate in his love. God doesn't favour in his love. God pours out his grace to all who look to him and provides for us as verse 25 said.

Held in His Care

I want you to know today, as you go about your day that you are held in God's care and God's love. I want you to call to mind today this verse “He remembered me in my low estate”. And then all throughout the day ask God to remember you. Doesn't it remind you of the man on the cross next to Jesus who said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom?” Jesus replied “today you will be with me in paradise.”

Friends, all of us can go to God and say, “Remember me. Remember me even in my lowest state, even just as I am.” God will. He's faithful and just and loving. He remembers you and he's looking out for you. Do you know this today? He's looking out for you. He knows your cares, your burdens, your worries. He knows your struggles. He knows the difficulties you're going through. He remembers it all. And he's holding you through it.

Will you allow yourself to be held and cared for by the God who loves you? His love endures forever, remember, every verse in this psalm has reminded us of this. Give thanks to Him today for this and give thanks to Him every day for this enduring love.
