Love That Looks Like Jesus

Philemon - Love That Looks Like Jesus

Now friends, perhaps you’ve noticed something here as we’ve spoken through Paul’s characteristics of a leader’s love. Did you notice that in each of these areas, Paul was emulating Jesus? Paul was a good man, but he was flawed. Jesus on the other hand was perfect. Sinless. Flawless. And this way of love is JESUS’ way of loving us: listen,

Love Like Jesus

-       If you want to see love that encourages and doesn’t break down… look to Jesus.
Jesus would always aim to build up his people in love… his words, tough though they could be, were spoken to heal and help the people who came to him.
Come to Jesus today friends, and find a Saviour who will build you up and encourage you day by day, and give you life to the full!

-       If you want to experience love that appeals and doesn’t force… look to Jesus.
He knocks on our doors but the handle is on the inside.
He COULD stand and demand that we open the door!
He could beat the door down and say I HAVE THE AUTHORITY!!!
But Jesus appeals to us… offers us love…
And waits for us to respond in with joy!
Grudging obedience is not what Jesus is after.
Forced faith is NOT the Christian way…
Christ longs for our heartfelt and joyful service… His love appeals and never demands.

-       If you want love that covers debts… look to Jesus.
Because friends what he did on the cross was exactly that.
Here’s the great truth of the gospel – you and I are in debt to God. Each sinful thought or deed in our lives have separated us from him, and we can’t pay our way back. The debt is too big.
But Jesus came, and he took our place, and gave himself up for us as a ransom to pay our debts.

Embrace Jesus' Love

Do you get this today friends: Paul’s love in this letter – encouraging love, appealing but not forceful love, forgiving love: this is the love that Jesus offers you and I today!

Oh friends, do you know him? Have you accepted this encouraging, selfless love that he offers so gently and kindly?

Place your faith in Him today. Believe in Him as your Saviour, your Lord, your greatest Friend! And receive by faith the love that He offers you.

It is His love that changed my life, and I know it will change yours if you come to Him to receive it.
