I Am a Lover and Worshipper of God

Okay, here's my third “I am” statement. I've already said “I'm loved and forgiven” and “I am Spirit-filled and Sanctified”, and number three is “I Am a Lover and Worshipper of God”. And then underneath it, I've written “I delight in God and love Him with a white-hot passion”.

Putting God's Love First

And when I first put this together, that was at the top for me. I always put that at the top. And then I realized that that was wrong. I only love and worship God because he has loved me. I need to put that up at the front. And then once I every day remember what he's done for me, then I can say “this is what I'm going to do for him”.

I'm a lover and a worshiper of God - delighting in Him! Do you delight in God above all, day by day? It's very easy for us to see God as a kind of duty and see our relationship with Him as kind of a box to be ticked so that we can then go on and do our own thing. But I always read this and say to myself, “Is God being praised in what I do?” And “am I taking the time to sit with him and love him and delighted him, or am I just taking his blessings and then running away?”

I want to worship God. I want my soul to be singing his praise all throughout the day. I want to be so close to him that whatever I do is an act of worship!

I like what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”.

Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. This is why I have this I am statement reminding me, whatever you do, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. I want His glory to shine out of me. I want His name to be on my lips, his praise to be in my heart.

Daily Worship Discipline

And this is a discipline, to some extent, friends, because we get pulled aside by the world all the time. And so every day. Remind yourself, who do I love today? Who is my deepest joy, my deepest object of affection? Worship him! Oh, worship him throughout the day! Maybe you want to say this “I am” statement as well every morning because for me it helps remind me what it's all about.
