The Completeness of Jesus’ Worship

The Completeness of Jesus’ Worship

I don’t think that Jesus was ever not worshipping God. That’s a massive statement, I know. But I believe it completely: His heart was adoring, loving and valuing His Father above all in everything He did.

Many of us try to split our lives into two categories: the God stuff, and the other stuff. We do church, Bible reading, prayer etc – God stuff. And then we do work, eating, driving, TV, hobbies – other stuff. Not connected to God.

Jesus didn’t live this way. Everything in His life was about loving God. In fact, Paul, that great follower of Jesus in the first century, said whatever you do, do it in Jesus’ name, and to the Father’s glory. That is true worship, when whatever you do… you do it for God’s glory.

Living a Life of Worship and Purpose

Are you a parent? Raise your kids with a heart of worship.
Are you working in a job? Do it with integrity and compassion, worshipping God!
Do you enjoy watching TV? Watch what honours God.
Do you have a hobby? Do it in a way that brings glory to God!!
Are you going to eat some food today? Eat with a thankful heart to God’s glory!!!

Are you starting to get the picture? Whatever you do, Paul said, do it for God.

That’s how Jesus lived. His whole life was an offering, poured out for God, and for the good of the people around Him.

Leaving a Legacy of Worship and Love for God

You know what I want people to say when I die? Not “Luke could play the piano well”, or “His daily devotions were cool”, or “He did really well for himself.”

What I want is for people to say “He loved God! He worshipped God in all he did.”

How about you?

Because Jesus worshipped, be a worshipper. Because Jesus was defined by His worship of the Father, let your identity be that of a worshipper.

It’s the Jesus way. May it be our way too.
